The Sexual Objects For Klub Gutenberg!
The Quietus , February 15th, 2012 10:52

Booze & books also on the bill

Last week's Klub Gutenberg was a rip-roaring success, with an impassioned talk on the plight of the slow loris from Dr Anna Nekaris, and a brilliant set from Aidan Moffat that floored the room and made the ladies swoon. We're now pleased to announce the bill for the March edition of Klub Gutenberg.

Sexual Objects, fronted by Davy Henderson of the celebrated Fire Engines, Win and Nectarine No.9 will be the musical turn AND we can let you know now, will be joined by a mystery Special Guest, a much-loved figure from the post-punk epoch. Contractual obligation means this singer’s identity will be confirmed in March.

The supporting attractions are headed by Robin Turner (Caught By The River/Heavenly Recordings), co-author of the recent book Looking For The Moon Under Water The Search For The Perfect Pub. You can read an extract here. Robin will be talking about the wonders of the British public house.

We'll also be running a pub quiz, and the poet Jock Scot will be attending Klüb Gütenberg in the role of MC-libero. At the last Gutenberg there was a reunion of sorts as Aidan Moffat and Jock met for the first time in years. Afterwards, we heard tell of a strange gig where, supporting The Bad Seeds, Arab Strap had a temporary fracture, leading to Malcolm Middleton supporting Jock with his guitar.

Klub Gutenberg takes place on Wednesday, March 14th at the Old Queen's Head, Islington. You can buy tickets here.
