The Quietus is very pleased to announce that, in association with our friends at the Branchage Film Festival, we're putting on British Sea Power's phenomenal soundtrack to Man Of Aran this spring. On Tuesday, April 27th, British Sea Power will be bringing their score to the 18th Century church of St.Anne's Limehouse (exterior view here, interior here. We'll be using a bigger screen, of course). You can buy tickets here, but hurry - the last London Man of Aran performance, at the BFI, sold out in a twinkle of the eye.

In case you haven't read us banging on about it, Man Of Aran is American film-maker Robert J Flaherty's documentary (with added embellishments) about the lives of the Aran Islanders as they struggled to eke out a living against the inhospitable Atlantic waves. Although British Sea Power's soundtrack (as Ben Myers points out here) stands up as a piece of music in its own right, it's at its best accompanied by Flaherty's pioneering cinematography.
