Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

6.

King Crimson – Starless And Bible Black

The album that most re-arranged my priorities about music. From the achingly beautiful ‘The Night Watch’ to the the sinuous and raging ‘Great Deceiver’ (best description of Jesus’ parentage ever – "health food faggot with the bartered bride" – take that black metal), to the awe-inspiring improv of ‘Fracture’ and ‘Starless…’ and all the stuff in between, as well as one of my favorite album covers.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Lord Spikeheart, Tom Ravenscroft
