Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

10.

Smoke Fairies – Through Low Light and Trees

My favorite new/newer band. These ladies (two of them) are some of the finest singers since Sandy Denny and Anne Briggs, play mean guitars and write amazing lyrics. Saw them live in Seattle finally (unfortunately they had to open for corsetted cello crap Rasputina, hope they fired their booking agent). Too shy to introduce myself to them at merch table, but bought tons of stuff and told them they should be fucking headlining.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Lord Spikeheart, Tom Ravenscroft
