Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

9.

Jethro Tull – Stand Up

This was another hard decision (This Was…, Benefit, and the ubiquitous Aqualung are all great.) ‘Look Into The Sun’ is the clincher, and the song ’17’ from the bonus tracks is one of their best songs ever, should have been a single. Also many people that are Tull haters would be amazed by it. I played it for a van full of non-Tull-ites and didn’t tell them what it was and they were amazed. Oh yeah, show me a riff of recent manufacture as heavy as ‘New Day Yesterday’.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Lord Spikeheart, Tom Ravenscroft
