They will also mark their 40th year in 2024 with the release of an autobiography and a tour of the UK and Europe

The Jesus And Mary Chain are set to release their first album in seven years, Glasgow Eyes.

Due out in March, the 12-track LP was recorded at Mogwai's Castle Of Doom studio in Glasgow with the duo of brothers Jim and William Reid having returned to the creative process that birthed previous album Damage Of Joy in 2017. To mark the album's announcement, they've shared lead single 'jamcod', which you can watch a video for above.

In a statement, Jim Reid said: "People should expect a The Jesus And Mary Chain record, and that's certainly what Glasgow Eyes is. Our creative approach is remarkably the same as it was in 1984, just hit the studio and see what happens. We went in with a bunch of songs and let it take its course. There are no rules, you just do whatever it takes. And there's a telepathy there – we are those weird not-quite twins that finish each other's sentences."

Glasgow Eyes will be released in what will be The Jesus And Mary Chain's 40th year as a band, and the Reid brothers will mark the occasion with the release of an autobiography via publishers Orion and White Rabbit, with full details of the book yet to be announced. A full tour of the UK and Europe is also pencilled in, with further information on that set to be revealed soon.

Earlier this year, The Jesus And Mary Chain released a live album, Sunset 666, which was recorded at the Hollywood Palladium in 2018.

Fuzz Club will release Glasgow Eyes on March 8, 2023.
