Unsound 2016 Themed Around Dislocation
Christian Eede , April 4th, 2016 10:01

2016 and 2017 festivals will be themed around the idea

The theme for this year’s Unsound Kraków has been announced with events in both 2016 and 2017 set to be themed around the notion of ‘Dislocation’.

“The long and provocative tension between ‘center’ and ‘periphery’ often fuels cultural development,” says Unsound artistic director Mat Schulz. “Being based in Kraków, poland, we know this well and have worked hard to break down such binaries. The very idea of a Polish-born festival producing prominent music events in New York, London, Toronto and Adelaide is unusual. But at a time when the world feels increasingly unstable, we want to more consciously explore all sorts of fertile peripheries in the context of geography, politics, identity, online interaction and more generally the contemporary social environment.”

As ever, the theme will carry over into the festival's programme acting as a basis for music bookings as well as talks and workshops. The festival will soon begin announcing its 2016 line-up. You can get more details on this year's theme and find out more information on 2016's Unsound Kraków here.
