Israel Vibration - The Same Song

Again, that album is absolutely unique. They and Jacob Miller fascinate me. It's not just the melodies, the singing, the songs - they're actually incorporating delay into their harmonies. They're singing echoes! This is the album that transported me into an awareness of the great Jamaican vocal trios – another one is The Abyssinians, Forward On To Zion.

I'm sick to death of these bloody boy and girl bands, with their method singing, their going through the motions, it's just not heartfelt. So with the greatest respect to Boyzone, who are fine for what they are, their legacy isn't one that is going to take you anywhere spiritual, have the sort of awakening effect on you that this does – it's just not going to happen. Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, this - these are the records that do that.
