Brian Eno To Curate Brighton Festival

Experimental stalwart planning a rollicking good week

Musician and production whizz Brian Eno will be curating this year's Brighton Festival.

As guest director, Eno has planned the following events for the festival, which takes place in May this year:

May 1 & 2: Apollo: This Is For All Mankind A live soundtrack of Eno's music performed by Icebreaker Ensemble to the Al Reinert documentary of the Apollo space missions. Eno will also give an introductory talk.

May 9: This is Pure Scenius! Eno joins forces with Karl Hyde, Leo Abrahams, Jon Hopkins and The Necks over six hours and three consecutive performances.

May 7: This is Acappella! Frank Zappa's group The Persuasions are joined by New York outfit Naturally 7 and Seattle-based singer Reggie Watts for a celebration of the lone, unaccompanied voice.

May 14: This is Afrobeat Tony Allen and Seun Kutti - son of Fela - produce one essential Afro-beat performance.
