The first trailer has been unveiled for a forthcoming film about David Bowie called Moonage Daydream.

The release of the trailer, which you can watch above, coincides with the film's premiere earlier this week at the Cannes Film Festival ahead of its wider cinema release this September. Footage featured in the clip sees Bowie emerging on-stage during the Ziggy Stardust era, before a voiceover by the late artist recites a passage from Mr. Rice's Secret, a film in which he starred in 1998. In the voiceover, he says: "It's what you do in life that's important, not how much time you have."

The film has the approval of Bowie's estate and includes unreleased 35mm and 16mm footage from his personal archives. Brett Morgen, known for his work on the 2015 film Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck, directed, wrote and produced the new film, which was last year described in a Variety report as "neither documentary nor biography, but an immersive cinematic experience built, in part, upon thousands of hours of never before seen material." Tony Visconti, Bowie's longtime producer, is the film's music producer, according to the same report.
