Supersonic Cancels 2020 Edition

Birmingham's always excellent, innovative and exciting festival will no longer take place this year due to coronavirus concerns

Our friends at Supersonic Festival have just announced that they are cancelling this year's event.

The Birmingham-based extreme music and arts event, which has been like a second home to tQ for the 12 years we have been running, has said it will be back in 2021.

Lisa Meyer of Capsule, who organises the annual festival, says that confusion around advice from UK Government and Public Health England has made planning the festival impossible and added that insurers would not cover them in the event of a cancellation further down the line due to COVID-19.

She added: "For us this decision is devastating. The team have been working so hard behind the scenes - we had an amazing line up and had also secured a brand-new location for the festival this year. But we are making this decision to protect the future existence of the organisation. We want to be here in the future and we will be back with another incredible festival in 2021."

You can help Supersonic/Capsule continue their work of "crafting extraordinary events for curious audiences," as well as helping them to support artists and their freelance workers by donating here.

If you have already bought tickets the festival will be in touch with you to discuss refund options.
