LISTEN: The Silence Preview Debut Album

Stream a track from the self-titled debut album by The Silence, featuring members of the now defunct Japanese experimental rock group Ghost

Drag City-signed The Silence, comprising former members of the Tokyo-formed experimental rock group Ghost and other musicians, release their self-titled debut album in March and tQ have been given a preview of the album with opener ‘Lemon Iro No Cannibis’, available to stream above now.

The album has been around 18 months in the making since a chance meeting between former Ghost members Masaki Batoh and Futoshi Okano while in Spain in October of 2013. With the pair promising each other to pursue new music together when back in Japan after Batoh declared the end of Ghost last spring, The Silence were born. Of the time in the studio recording the album last summer, Batoh said: "This was not an act of reminiscence, but one of consciousness and unconsciousness." The Silence will be available from March 24 with the group’s only confirmed tour date so far taking place in Tokyo on February 11.
