Silent Servant Details New EP, ‘In Memoriam’

Due out on Tresor, it's the Sandwell District member's first full solo release in five years

Silent Servant has a new EP on the way.

Spanning four tracks, it marks the first full solo release from the Sandwell District member, real name Juan Mendez, since 2018’s Shadows Of Death And Desire LP. The new record sees the producer fold in elements of Detroit techno and electro, Belgian EBM, and dub and industrial techno, and each track’s title references the time period that he is revisiting on the corresponding cut. You can listen to lead track ‘M87’ just below.

In Memoriam follows on from the recent reissue of Sandwell District’s debut and sole album to date, Feed-Forward, and comes amid a series of live shows from the Sandwell District trio of Silent Servant, Regis and Function.

The new record will be released through Tresor, which will also soon put out an album from Moritz von Oswald, called Silencio. The label released Surgeon’s first techno LP in five years, Crash Recoil, in March of this year too.

Tresor will release In Memoriam on November 24, 2023.
