The new record for Tresor sees the legendary German producer link up with a 16-member choir

Moritz von Oswald is releasing a new album through Tresor, called Silencio.

Spanning 11 tracks, the record explores, according to a press release, "the differences and similarities between human and artificial sound, between oscillations generated by vocal cords and synthesiser voices." The compositions featured on Silencio were written in von Oswald's Berlin studio on classic synthesisers, such as the EMS VCS3 and AKS; Prophet V; Oberheim 4-Voice; and Moog Model 15. These recordings were subsequently transcribed to sheet music for choir by Berlin-based Finnish composer and pianist Jarkko Riihimäki and performed by the 16-member choir Vocalconsort Berlin in Ölberg church in the city's Kreuzberg district, with their recordings then reworked by von Oswald back in his studio.

You can watch a teaser video covering the process of conducting and recording the choir for the finished compositions above, while two tracks from the album – 'Infinito' and 'Infinito (Version)' – can be listened to here.

Tresor will release Silencio on November 10, 2023.
