Holly Herndon has shared an AI twin of herself, which allows artists to modify audio files with a length of up to five minutes into a Holly Herndon song.
Holly+, described as a "digital twin" and created in collaboration with technology company Never Before Heard Sounds, will allow creators to upload any piece of audio for it to be sung back in Herndon’s processed voice. A small number of the works created with Holly+ will also be eligible to be officially licensed and sold as an NFT.
A DAO (Decentralised Autonomous Organisation) will approve official usage of the works created with Holly+, with the decision being based on whether the creations "contribute to the value of the voice." Only a small number of them will be licensed by DAO members.
If approved, 50 percent of the profit will go toward the work’s creator, 40 percent will be divided among DAO members, and the remaining 10 percent will be shared with Herndon.
"The Holly+ model creates a virtuous cycle," Herndon explains in a blog post. "I release tools to allow for the creative usage of my likeness, the best artworks and license opportunities are approved by DAO members, profit from those works will be shared amongst artists using the tools, DAO members, and a treasury to fund further development of the tools."
