Bristol Gets New Venue, Strange Brew

It opens today with a video stream featuring guests such as Batu and Shanti Celeste

A new venue is opening today (August 20) in Bristol.

Partially funded by a successful crowdfunding effort last year, Strange Brew, which is the brainchild of local party collective Dirtytalk, will launch with a special video stream this evening, due to current COVID-19 restrictions.

Kicking off at 7pm BST tonight and continuing until midnight, Strange Brew’s launch event will be streamed in partnership with local online radio station Noods Radio. It’ll feature DJ sets from Timedance label head Batu, former Bristol-based DJ Shanti Celeste, and Danielle, as well as live sets from Tara Clerkin Trio, Wojcieh Rusin and _DAMEFRISØR.

It’s hoped that Strange Brew, which can be found on Fairfax Street in Bristol, will eventually be able to open as a club space, but in the meantime, it will operate at a lower capacity as a listening bar from next month. There is also a small record shop, café and art exhibition space on site.

Follow Strange Brew on social media here, and find full details of tonight’s virtual launch party here.
