Public Enemy – It Takes A Nations Of Millions To Hold Us Back (Def Jam 1988)

Nation Of Millions was a big album when The Orb was starting out. Yes I did go and watch them, not only that, I roadied for them. It was like nothing I had heard before in the civilized world. Brixton Academy: alongside the Beastie Boys and Run DMC, paradise had arrived in SW9. They became the instant Last Poets of the 1990s. Public Enemy had such a resonance in the UK because Europeans are more open-minded. Americans were still living in the shadow of Martin Luther King, kind of free Britannia vs. a god-less America.
