UP Projects have announced the line up for their 2015 cinema programme entitled ‘Extra-Terrestrial’.
From the August 21-September 20, UP Projects will run a series of screenings and events exploring outer space in relation to art, science, film, literature, the visual arts and music. Concerned with our relationship to the galaxies above, the ‘Extra-Terrestrial’ programme celebrates the spaces where art and science meet and asks audiences to explore ‘the realms of cosmic possibility, taking inspiration from the rich context of London’s canals and waterways’.
The programme features a wide range of events, including an open air performance from Grumbling Fur on August 21 – tickets for that can be purchased here. There will also be open-air screenings of cult classics and rarities, a summer space school and a series of on board talks bringing together scientists, writers, thinkers and enthusiasts. Highlights include two Open Air Weekenders in Three Mills, Bow and Granary Square, exploring ‘Others on Earth’ and ‘Humans in Space’ where The Day The Earth Stood Still and Flash Gordon will be screened. Moreover, artist Hefin Jones will feature with a workshop which asks participants to design their own space colony using the tools and resources available to them in their everyday lives.
You can book your tickets for any of the events now here. Also, if you are interested in getting involved with the Floating Cinema team, UP projects is running a volunteer programme through which participants have the opportunity to help with event delivery and promotion. Recruitment is now open and you can email info@upporjects.com for details.
