Sufjan Stevens Details New Album, ‘Javelin’

It closes with a cover of Neil Young's 1972 track 'There's A World'

Sufjan Stevens is set to release a new album before the end of the year.

Out in October, the 10-track Javelin marks Stevens’ first solo album since 2020’s The Ascension, and his first in full singer-songwriter mode since 2015’s Carrie & Lowell. It features contributions from a small circle of friends who provide harmonies on a number of tracks, while The National’s Bryce Dessner also adds acoustic and electric guitar to one cut.

Album closer ‘There’s A World’ is a cover of the Neil Young track which featured on his 1972 album Harvest. You can watch a lyric video for the record’s lead cut, ‘So You Are Tired’, above.

Asthmatic Kitty will release Javelin on October 6, 2023.
