Sufjan Stevens To Release New Album, ‘The Ascension’

It's his first solo LP since 2015

Sufjan Stevens has shared details of his eighth solo studio album, titled The Ascension.

Due out in September, the 15-track album is Stevens’ first solo studio effort since 2015’s Carrie & Lowell, and follows on from Aporia, a collaborative album with his stepfather, Lowell Brams, which came out in March. The Ascension‘s 12-minute lead single, ‘America’, will be released this Friday, while the full album’s release will come with a 16-page booklet of Stevens’ drawings.

Asthmatic Kitty will release The Ascension on September 25, 2020.
