Sufjan Stevens has shared details of his eighth solo studio album, titled The Ascension.

Due out in September, the 15-track album is Stevens' first solo studio effort since 2015's Carrie & Lowell, and follows on from Aporia, a collaborative album with his stepfather, Lowell Brams, which came out in March. The Ascension's 12-minute lead single, 'America', will be released this Friday, while the full album's release will come with a 16-page booklet of Stevens' drawings.

Asthmatic Kitty will release The Ascension on September 25, 2020.
