Squid Share New Single, ‘Undergrowth’

They've also launched a game linked to the track

Squid have released a new single, ‘Undergrowth’.

The track appears on the band’s forthcoming album, O Monolith, which was originally unveiled in February alongside lead cut ‘Swing (In A Dream)’. You can listen to ‘Undergrowth’ above, while you can also play a special game linked to the track here.

Speaking about ‘Undergrowth’, Squid drummer and vocalist Ollie Judge said: "I really got into animism, the idea that spirits can live in inanimate objects. I was watching Twin Peaks, and there was the episode where Josie Packard’s spirit goes into a chest of drawers. So ‘Undergrowth’ was written from the perspective of me being reincarnated as a bedside table in the afterlife, and how the thought of being reincarnated as an inanimate object would be dreadful."

Warp Records will release O Monolith on June 9, 2023.
