Squid Detail New Album, ‘O Monolith’

The LP sees them link up once again with Speedy Wunderground boss Dan Carey

Squid have shared details of their second album, O Monolith.

Spanning eight tracks, the record is produced by Speedy Wunderground label and studio head Dan Carey, with whom the band have worked a number of times before. They began work on the album only two weeks after the release of 2021 debut Bright Green Field, while on a tour made up of fully seated, COVID-19-compliant shows which they used to road-test works in progress.

Ahead of the album’s release, the band have shared lead track ‘Swing (In A Dream)’, which you can watch a video for below. Speaking about the track in a statement, the band’s singer and drummer Ollie Judge said: “This was inspired by a dream I had about a painting called The Swing by Jean-Honoré Fragonard. In my dream I was in the painting but it was flooded and everything was floating away.”

Warp Records will release O Monolith on June 9, 2023.
