Squarepusher has announced a new EP, titled Lamental.
It follows on from the release in January of the Warp Records producer’s latest album, Be Up A Hello. The EP is said to look closer at the more melodic aspects of that record.
Lamental features two previously unreleased tracks from the producer alongside some highlights from Be Up A Hello. A press release describes one of the new songs, ‘The Paris Track’, as "a new accelerated interpretation of ‘Detroit People Mover’," which featured on the album and is also included on Lamental.
The other new track, ‘MIDI Sans Frontières (Avec Batterie’), which you can hear above, is an updated take on the producer’s 2016 track ‘MIDI Sans Frontières’, which he composed in 2016 as a response to the EU referendum. Both tracks appear on the new EP.
Warp Records will release the Lamental EP on April 10. Squarepusher will tour Europe through May including a stop-off at London’s Roundhouse on May 15 where he’ll be supported by SCALPING, Paranoid London and Ray Keith. Find his full list of upcoming tour dates here.
