Sophia Loizou will release a new album via Houndstooth this September.
Titled Untold, the album combines field recordings – including waves, animals and insects – with ambient works to explore the connection between the natural and the technological. You can watch a video for lead track ‘Anima’ above.
"I didn’t want to make it human-centric," Loizou says of Untold. "I wanted to remove my compositional and structural domination, to find ways to make it about the symbiosis of systems I see in the world."
Untold comes four years on from the producer’s last full-length album, Singulacra, and marks Loizou’s first release with Houndstooth, fabric’s in-house label. In addition to the album, Loizou will release a collection of poems titled Untold: A Tellurian Memorandum, which, a press release explains, "envision different aspects of entangled Earthly relationships."
Untold will follow on from Houndstooth’s next release, a various artists compilation titled Alterity, which comprises new tracks from a number of leading names in current experimental electronic music such as AYA, Deena Abdelwahed and Slikback.
Houndstooth will release Untold on September 25, 2020.
