This year’s Scalarama Festival will be showing a wide range of classic, obscure and never-seen-before films in over 35 towns and cities spread across the UK.
Hotspots include Nottingham, Leeds, Bristol, London, Brighton, Liverpool and Manchester. This year there will be thematic emphases on VHS culture and a celebration of the 10th anniversary of Second Run, a company dedicated to reissuing old and lost film titles on DVD. The festival works in partnership with the international Directed by Women event calling for equality in film programming – that specific focus runs across this week.
Festival highlights include a Shirley Clarke retrospective and the UK premiere of Anthropophagous: The Beast 35 years after its original release. Click here for the full details.
