Ryuichi Sakamoto Shares New Piano Concert Video

'Playing the Piano for the Isolated' sees the Japanese artist playing music from across his career

Ryuichi Sakamoto has shared a new concert film called Playing the Piano for the Isolated. You can watch it above.

The video, which has a runtime of almost two hours, is divided into a number of parts, including an introduction by Sakamoto himself, almost 30 minutes of music played by shamisen player Hidejiro Honjoh, an improvisational piece by Sakamoto and Honjoh and, finally, a section featuring Sakamoto solo on piano.

Sakamoto’s solo piano section sees him play past works like ‘Minamata’, ‘Energy Flow’ and ‘Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence’.

Last month, Sakamoto shared an older concert recording via YouTube, in the form of Playing the Orchestra 2014.
