Ryuichi Sakamoto Shares Concert Recording

'Ryuichi Sakamoto - Playing the Orchestra 2014' is now streaming on YouTube

In a bid to help fans stave off their lockdown-induced boredom amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Ryuichi Sakamoto has shared a full concert recording via YouTube.

‘Ryuichi Sakamoto – Playing the Orchestra 2014’ was recorded with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in, as you might have guessed, 2014, and features Sakamoto playing piano, as well as serving as conductor. It’s available to stream anytime via the embed above until May 22.

It will be followed next Friday (May 1) by a stream of a Yellow Magic Orchestra concert that Sakamoto and co. played as part of Massive Attack’s edition of Meltdown festival in 2008. That one will be available to watch until May 29 once it’s live.

Earlier this year, Sakamoto provided the score for director Luca Guadagnino’s latest short film, The Staggering Girl.
