Nick Cave And More Discuss Their Voices In New Book

Robert Smith, Stevie Nicks and Thom Yorke also contribute to 'The Singers Talk – The Greatest Singers Of Our Time Discuss The One Thing They're Never Asked About: Their Voices'

A new book by writer and musician Jason Thomas Gordon will shine a spotlight on the voices of a number of popular recording artists.

The book, titled The Singers Talk – The Greatest Singers Of Our Time Discuss The One Thing They’re Never Asked About: Their Voices, features interviews and contributions from more than 70 different vocalists, including Nick Cave, Robert Smith, Stevie Nicks, Bruce Springsteen, Thom Yorke and Karen O. It also includes conversations with Nile Rodgers, Clive Davis and Wendy Melvoin, in which they discussed the voices of David Bowie, Whitney Houston and Prince respectively.

Yorke says that his conversation for the book was "the most geeked out I’ve ever talked about my voice," while Karen O said in an extract of her contribution to the book: "Singing is so much more than hitting the right note. It’s about connecting with the audience, connecting with something divine to a certain degree. It’s connecting to your most primitive and deepest intuition, and to your nature as a human on this planet."

Proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as part of the Music Gives To St. Jude Kids initiative, which raises funds and awareness for the hospital through music-based schemes. Find out more about the book itself here.

Permuted Press will publish The Singers Talk – The Greatest Singers Of Our Time Discuss The One Thing They’re Never Asked About: Their Voices on September 5, 2023.
