Roadburn Confirms First Acts For 2022 Edition

Ulver, Divide And Dissolve and more will play the Netherlands festival in April

Tilburg’s Roadburn festival has confirmed plans for its return in 2022.

Following two years of cancelled events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, next year’s Roadburn will be headlined by Ulver, performing music from 2020’s Flowers Of Evil LP. Liturgy will also be performing their 2019 album H.A.Q.Q. in full, and additionally presenting their 2020 record Origin Of The Alimonies as an opera on the festival’s main stage. The latter part of the performance will take place in sync with a film created by Liturgy’s Hunter Hunt-Hendrix, and will see the band accompanied by a chamber orchestra.

Elsewhere on the lineup, Milena Eva and Thomas Sciarone of the Dutch band GGGOLDDD have been enlisted to act as guest curators for next year’s event. As well as hand-picking elements of the festival’s lineup – including guest sets from Divide And Dissolve, Backxwash and Midwife – they will join the rest of their band to perform the commissioned music they wrote for this year’s Roadburn Redux event, in the form of a piece entitled This Shame Should Not Be Mine.

Full Of Hell will take up the role of Artists In Residence for the festival, and are scheduled to perform four times over the course of the event, including a collaboration with Nothing, as Full Of Nothing. The festival’s first announcement is capped off with appearances from Alcest, performing their album Écailles de Lune, and Sólstafir, performing their record Svartir Sandar.

Roadburn will take place from April 21 to 24, 2022. Find more information here.
