Queens Of The Stone Age: New LP Details

...Like Clockwork set for release in June, featuring guest spots from Trent Reznor, Mark Lanegan and more

Queens Of The Stone Age have confirmed further details about their new album, …Like Clockwork (artwork above).

The record, their first for Matador and slated for a June release, was announced at the tail-end of last week. They’ve now added that they’ll be heading out on an "extensive world tour" in support of the record, as well as confirming the list of guests on the album. We heard about Dave Grohl’s turn on the drums last year, but Queens have now said that Trent Reznor, Mo’ Wax and UNKLE’s James Lavelle, Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner, Elton John and Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears will all be on the record, as will former members Mark Lanegan and Nick Oliveri. As Pitchfork report, Oliveri is returning to the band for the first time since 2004, when he was kicked out for alleged domestic abuse.

The current line-up of the band is Josh Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Pertita and Michael Shuman, with Homme producing the album at Pink Duck Studios in Burbank, California.

Speaking to Kerrang about the new album, Homme said: "…SOME THINGS YOU CAN’T FIX SO… ON THIS RECORD WE CAME TO A REALIZATION: THE BEST TRICK OF ALL, IS NO TRICK AT ALL

THE SONGS ARE A REAL TIME DOCUMENT OF THE MANIC UPS AND DOWNS OF THE LAST YEAR. IT CAN’T ALWAYS RUN LIKE CLOCKWORK. SO RATHER THAN CONTROL THE DIRECTION OF THE RECORDINGS, WE DECIDED TO RIDE SHOTGUN ON OUR EMOTIONAL BANDWAGON. WE EMBRACED OUR EVIL, HELD THE HORRIBLE, LICKED THE LUNACY AND BLEW THE BEAUTIFUL. AS A RESULT, WE’RE ON CLOUD 9."
