LISTEN: Perc 10 Yrs Party Preview Playlist

Get stuck in ahead of this weekend's party

This Saturday night (February 28th) Perc Trax takes over Corsica Studios for a monstrous party to celebrate the first decade of operation of what has become one of our favourite labels in recent years. Perc and Truss will be playing their first joint UK set (check out this amazing one from Awakenings Festival last year, Pete Swanson will be making his collapsing escalator noise, Factory Floor’s Nik Void is playing a solo set before Factory Floor themselves unveil new material. Also on the bill are Powell playing his Actual Body Music, Plex resident Luke Handsfree, Border Community’s Avus, recent Perc Trax Boiler Room stars Randomer and Ansome, who we’re interviewing on The Quietus shortly. The event is completely sold out in advance, but if you get there early there will be a super limited number of tickets on the door. This will also mean you can catch the Room-two-lubing set from tQ’s own Hamburger Ladies. The various people on the bill have put together a YouTube playlist to get you and yours in the mood – listen to that above and read about the selections below. It starts with Iron Maiden and you can’t say fairer than that

Truss: Iron Maiden – ‘Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son’

Taken from one of the first albums I ever owned. Incredible production and musicianship along with extended instrumental sections with clever key and time signature changes that aren’t just done for the sake of it.

Randomer: Acid Arab – ‘Zhar’

Bonkers in the best way.

Powell: Project 86 – ‘Industrial Bass’

Weapon.

Perc: An-i – ‘Gutz’

Slow grinding, never-ending, EBM joy.

Nik Void: Hodge – ‘Recall’

Pick up your tough techno tools and dunk them in a pool of sophisticated bleach! Invective light and free!

Hamburger Ladies: Zeigenbock Kopf – ‘Boys Meet’

We serve it greasy.

Ansome: Happa – ‘To Die Hating Them’

Raw and powerful with great texture and sound design.

Pete Swanson: Extreme Precautions – ‘Untitled 2’

Paul from Extreme Precautions/Mondkopf and I were fast friends, joined over our shared interest in blistering hardcore punk, experimental music and pummelling beats. I’d like to think that our sharing brutal tracks with each other at his apartment in Paris helped inspire his excellent Extreme Precautions EP. I’ve recently been working on playing with these ideas as well and will be using several samples of favourite hardcore tracks at the Perc night.  I’ve got a few things edited together from groups like Union Of Uranus, His Hero Is Gone, Universal Order of Armageddon to toss in the mix on this trip in a sort of gestural response to the pummelling Paul’s gifted us all.

Luke Handsfree: VCF – ‘Journey Through Life’

Demented tweaked out proper acid for the post-peak-time crew; when one is slightly more susceptible to confusion 😉

Avus: e-Dancer – ‘Heavenly’

It took me ages to find it on vinyl when it came out, it hasn’t left my record box since. It still sounds twisted and unique even after all this time.
