Following on from their profile of South London, Dazed and AllSaints’ next stop in their New Music Cities documentary series is Tokyo. Alongside session performances from Emuf*cka and Sapphire Slows, instrumental trio Nisennenmondai stop by to turn in a condensed version of ‘B-2’, the final track from N, released on the band’s label bijin record last year. It’s exactly what you’d expect from the group, a tightly-wound cut where the barest of sonic matter – scratches on guitar strings worked up into long-reverberating echoes, a minimal, pointed bass line – moves in and out of the mix over one constant, Sayaka Himeno’s mesmeric, faultlessly precise drumming.
