Nicolás Jaar Releases Collaborative Unsound Live Recording, ‘Weavings 2’

Recorded in October 2021, the performance took place as part of a closing concert for the Kraków festival

Nicolás Jaar has teamed up with Unsound festival’s in-house label to release a live recording of a collaborative performance that he led at the Kraków event in October 2021.

Clocking in at almost 90 minutes, Weavings 2 is split into various sections, which take in contributions from different performers. Among those featured are Angel Bat Dawid, Valentina Magaletti, Oren Ambarchi, Aho Ssan, Khyam Allami, Resina and Antonina Nowacka.

None of the featured artists on Weavings 2 rehearsed with each other beforehand, performing instead with their respective stage setups in duos and clusters according to a visual score. The performance took place as the closing concert to Unsound’s 2021 edition.

Weavings 2 follows the release last year of Weavings, a recording of the original performance which saw a number of artists also come together, this time remotely, to perform a non-rehearsed piece as part of Unsound’s online edition in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Weavings 2 is out now on Unsound / Other People.
