Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have shared an official trailer for the upcoming documentary film that they are the focus of, This Much I Know To Be True.
The film, shot on location in London and Brighton, and directed by Andrew Dominik, follows the two artists as they develop the tracks that made up their last two albums together, 2019’s Ghosteen (released as Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds) and 2021’s Carnage (released as Nick Cave & Warren Ellis). It offers a document of their first ever live performances of those albums, filmed in spring 2021 ahead of their UK tour, as they are accompanied by singers and a string quartet to bring the tracks to life for the live stage. The film was originally announced earlier this month, alongside a clip from the film.
The 90-second trailer, which you can watch above, features narration from Cave, interspersed with visuals from the film, including rehearsal footage. The unveiling of the trailer coincides with tickets going on sale today (March 23) for the global cinema release event in May. You can find tickets for a screening on the day of the film’s release via Nick Cave’s website.
This Much I Know To Be True is out on May 11, 2022.
