Grinderman Play Surprise All Tomorrow’s Parties Gig Down Under

Australian festival gets secret show

Grinderman played an unannounced show at this weekend’s All Tomorrow’s Parties Australia festival, curated by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

According to The Quietus’ Aussie spies at the Mount Buller Ski Resort where the festival was held, Grinderman ended up being the surprise guest that had appeared on the festival programme in the days running up to the event. Cracking gig, apparently, though no new material was played.

In other news, The Quietus is told to recommend that you turn your ears to Passenger Of Shit, who Nick Cave booked after hearing them on mySpace and deciding they were so bonkers there was no way the Festival could do without them. They describe themselves as "Dungcore". Classy.

One of Afrirampo donned a Nick Cave mask and ran around the place shouting "I am Nicku Caveu – look at my moustache!" which apparently the man himself found most amusing.

Anyway, apparently the Bad Seeds were astounding, the weather was baking ‘ot, and Nick Cave and Warren Ellis could be seen wandering around the place, taking their respective families on the chairlifts, and so on.
