New Book on Legendary Reggae Label Studio One to be Published

A new book about the legendary reggae and dub label Studio One is set to be published later this month.

No Man Is An Island (Volume 2): A Guide To More Choice Studio One Pressings is the second edition in a series of books exploring the history of the imprint. Author Morgan “Moman” Nixon provides insights on 171 key tracks from the label’s vast back catalogue across the book.

The first edition of No Man Is An Island was published in 2020, and pre-orders for this latest book are live now via Heavenly Recordings’ Bandcamp page with shipping set to begin from January 30 onwards.

Studio One was founded in Kingston, Jamaica in 1954 by Clement “Coxsone” Dodd. It was a home for key Jamaican sounds such as reggae, dub, dancehall and ska for several decades afters its launch. Bob Marley & The Wailers, Lee “Scratch” Perry and King Jammy are among the various legendary artists who released material via the label.
