Actress will release a new album via Ninja Tune next month.
Entitled AZD, you can check out the lead track ‘X22RME’, pronounced ‘Extreme’, above right now. A glitchy affair, the track goes in a number of different directions across its three minutes.
"I did fifty versions of the tune," says the producer. "Different parts were on tape, CD, different old computers and USB sticks, so it was quite intimidating to revisit and complete. The track was in the end built out of three hours of different passages." The result is notably direct in comparison to much other Actress material, described as playing "between the lines of Oriental classic rave and Balinese warehouse Techno machined in a Rotherhithe lock up welding the grooves into a seamless cracked joint".
The producer will premiere a new live show based around the album at London’s Village Underground on March 24 as part of Convergence Festival. You can get tickets for that here. AZD is out on April 14 and can be pre-ordered here.
Also newly available today is another covert cassette release on Ninja Tune from an unknown producer called BANK OF ENGLAND, entitled CHAOS RAIN. It’s expected that this is another secret cassette release from Actress himself following on from two other recent outings speculated also as his work. That is available now digitally and in an edition of 100 clear cassettes with purple reels.
