Mount Kimbie Reveal New Album, ‘The Sunset Violet’

The new record features two collaborations with King Krule

Mount Kimbie have shared details of a new studio album, The Sunset Violet.

Following on from 2022’s MK 3.5: City Planning | Die Cuts, which saw lead members Dominic Maker and Kai Campos each contribute parts of a double album, their forthcoming LP welcomes live band members Andrea Balency-Béarn and Marc Pell fully into the fold on record for the first time. Combining elements of indie, shoegaze and electronic music, it’s said to pick up where 2017 album Love What Survives left off.

The album was largely written in California’s Yucca Valley, with its desert and Americana landscape influencing the nine cuts that make up the tracklist. King Krule appears as a guest collaborator on two of the songs. You can watch a video for lead tack ‘Fishbrain’ above.

Warp will release The Sunset Violet on April 5, 2024.
