Mount Kimbie have shared details of a new double album, MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning, the duo’s first full-length record in five years.
Set for release on Warp Records, Mount Kimbie’s fourth studio album is comprised of two individual records by their two members. Die Cuts, by the duo’s Dom Maker, was inspired by his move to Los Angeles half a decade ago, and includes guest contributions from Danny Brown, KeiyaA, James Blake, Wiki, Liv.e and slowthai, among others. Kai Campos’ City Planning, meanwhile, has its roots in a period of DJing that he embarked on at clubs and festivals in recent years which led to a process of "intense listening and thinking about listening."
To mark the announcement of the new double album, the duo have shared a track from each side of the release. Maker’s ‘f1 racer’ includes vocals from Australian singer Kučka, while Campos’ track, ‘Zone 1 (24 Hours)’, is an instrumental effort. They’ve also released an album off-cut, produced by Maker and featuring vocals from Pa Salieu and Maxo Kream. You can listen to all three tracks just above.
Warp Records will release MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning on November 4, 2022.
