This summer, the Quietus will be collaborating with the Liverpool International Music Festival and music biz fixer Chris Bye for a special event. Minor Characters will see East India Youth, Forest Swords, The Lone Taxidermist, English Heretic, Ten Mouth Electron and Luke Abbott celebrate film and literature’s lesser known cast with original compositions based on the imagined lives of said characters, which will be unveiled at the event, taking place at The Kazimier on August 29. As the festival explains: "The project will expose the hitherto untold stories of the bit parts, the unnamed roles, the small cogs in the machine which are nonetheless essential to its working. Every apparently inconsequential player has within them an entire life-story waiting to be heard."
Abbott will be performing his piece live and has already revealed his chosen personage, creating a work inspired by Organ Morgan from Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood using his live analogue synth set-up.
There’ll be an exhibition of specially-produced artwork inspired by the concept, including pieces by prolific Liverpool poster producer Gary McGarvey, aka Horse. What’s more, we’ll be releasing the tracks produced as free downloads via the Quietus Phonographic Corporation. Head to the festival’s website for full details and stay tuned for further updates.
