Light In The Attic Unveils Plans To Mark Its 20th Anniversary

The milestone will be marked with a year-long slate of special releases, events and more

Seattle-based reissue label and distribution company Light In The Attic has revealed details of a year-long programme of plans to mark its 20th anniversary.

The label is set to mark the milestone with a series of exclusive releases, events and merchandise, and kicked off its celebrations last week with the LITA 20 Online Extravaganza, which saw the release of exclusive versions of key back catalogue releases. Among those releases are two first-of-their-kind 10xLP box sets of music by Ennio Morricone and cult prog-rock supergroup Goblin. Find the full list of releases via Light In The Attic’s website.

In addition to the initial series of exclusive releases and merchandise, plans have also been confirmed for an in-person event celebrating the label’s history, which will be held in Pioneertown, California on October 8, 2022. The official lineup and event details for the event are yet to be confirmed, but you can sign up to the label’s newsletter to receive updates on future announcements.

In a statement about the anniversary, Light In The Attic founder and co-owner Matt Sullivan said: "It’s a thrill to look back at 20 years of Light In The Attic and we’re excited for what the future holds – we’ve always worked hard to be inclusive, fair, and true to ourselves and show our love for the music and the artists we work with. I think that shows in the work we do."

Josh Wright, co-owner of the label and distribution company, added: "When we started the distribution part of the business, we did it from a very grassroots level – we took road trips around the country to meet store owners and buyers personally, sharing our passion for the music and stories from the Light In The Attic world. That same ethos is really at the heart of everything we do today, both for our own labels and the 100+ labels we distribute. It’s really a blessing to be working with so many great labels that share the same passion for the music and commitment to quality that we do."

In its 20-year history, Light In The Attic has reissued key works by the likes of Rodriguez, Hiroshi Yoshimura, Haruomi Hosono, Bert Jansch, John Carpenter and The Supreme Jubilees, among many others. Labels such as Cinewax, Ship To Shore, Diggers Factory, Quartet, Tidal Waves and Aloha Got Soul are among those whose releases are also distributed by the company.
