Katie Gately Shares New Track, ‘Waltz’

It's the second track to be unveiled from her forthcoming album

Katie Gately has shared a new track from her upcoming album, Loom.

Titled ‘Waltz’, it’s the second track to be revealed from the album ahead of its release next month via fabric’s in-house label, Houndstooth. You can watch a video for the track above.

Loom is dedicated to Gately’s mother who passed away in 2018 due to a sudden onset of a particularly aggressive form of cancer. ‘Waltz’ itself came about after spent an entire day listening to Gately her late mother’s favourite artist Leonard Cohen’s track ‘Take This Waltz’ on repeat.

The clip above sees Gately appearing in a video for a track of hers for the first time.

"The day of the shoot I asked Katie if she wanted to be challenged as a performer or not, and she practically demanded it of me," says director Sam Shay. "What resulted was absolutely magnetic. She willfully and bravely let her walls collapse in front of us, and this video, to me, is a powerful portrait of her."

Houndstooth will release Loom on February 14. Gately will follow its release with a live show at London’s Cafe Oto on April 1 as well as an appearance at The Hague’s Rewire festival. For details on the London show, head here.
