Joni Mitchell’s 1969 debut performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall, the legendary artist’s first major concert, is to get a first-time release this November.
The full performance will be released as a 3xLP set on 180-gram vinyl, with the audio split across five LP sides – the sixth side features an etching of the American eagle that donned Mitchell’s skirt at the show. You can listen to Mitchell’s performance of ‘Chelsea Morning’ from the show above.
The recording of the concert is being released in the wake of the recent 4xLP box set The Reprise Albums (1968-1971), which includes newly remastered albums Song To A Seagull, Clouds, Ladies Of The Canyon and Blue. Both releases are part of an ongoing series of archival releases from Mitchell’s back catalogue, which began last year.
Rhino Records will release Live At Carnegie Hall, February 1, 1969 on November 12, 2021.
