The founder of Vancouver’s New Forms Festival is launching an online event called Refraction Festival.
Running for two weeks from July 16, the festival’s inaugural edition will take in DJ sets, installations, audiovisual performances, and video exhibitions from a number of artists.
Amongst the acts booked to play are Hieroglyphic Being, Omar-S, DJ Stingray, object blue, Marcellus Pittman, Sapphire Slows, Roza Terenzi, Tawiah + Myrrh, and MoMA Ready. Mathew Jonson and Ciel will play backed by special visuals.
Uganda’s Nyege Nyege Tapes will also present a special showcase, featuring DJ Diaki, MC Yallah and HHY & The Kampala Unit, amongst others, while representatives of Canadian labels Mood Hut and Pacific Rhythm will play sets alongside visuals.
In lieu of tickets and festival passes, Refraction Festival will raise money for Color Of Change and The Bail Project over the course of the two weeks.
