Ennio Morricone and Bruno Nicolai’s library music project Dimensioni Sonore – Musiche Per L’Immagine E L’immaginazione is being lined up for a reissue by Dialogo.
The project was originally released by RCA in 1972 as part of Morricone and Nicolai’s Catalogo Di Musiche Per Sonorizzazioni. It comprises 103 compositions that range, Dialogo says, from "cerebral jazzy numbers to avant-garde abstractions."
The new edition of Dimensioni Sonore – Musiche Per L’Immagine E L’immaginazione has been remastered from the original analogue master tapes. It will be released across 10 individual LPs as well as in a 10xLP box set.
Morricone and Nicolai were regular collaborators over the course of their respective careers, having met as students during the early 1950s at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Their friendship yielded, from the mid-1960s onwards, hundreds of albums that carried both of their names.
As with almost all library music, the works featured on Dimensioni Sonore were not composed with any particular film or thematic association in mind, but instead to be selected by filmmakers for use at a later date.
Dialogo will reissue Dimensioni Sonore – Musiche Per L’Immagine E L’immaginazione on October 30, 2020.
