LISTEN: Diamond Version & Neil Tennant

Techno duo post first single Were You There? from debut album CI, just announced for a June release

With Easter approaching and tQ observing this most chocolatey of public holidays via our gert list of some of the most sublime spiritual music ever recorded, religious fervour is well and truly in the air. Dark-hued electronic producers Diamond Version are also getting in on the reverential act, streaming as they are a thumping take on an old gospel hymn, ‘Were You There?’, their collaboration with dance-pop high priest, Neil Tennant of Pet Shop Boys. Get baptised by its deconstructed techno above.

The track is taken from their forthcoming debut album, CI (which stands for "Corporate Identity"), released June 2 via Mute. The LP follows on from a series of five 12" EPs they’ve previously released and will be preceded by an audio-visual tour that’ll see them heading out across Europe over April, May and June – glean the details over at their website.
