Deftones Frontman Performed In A Volcano

Iceland's Secret Solstice plays host to first 'public gig inside a volcano'

Last weekend, the first ever public gig inside a volcano took place as part of Iceland’s Secret Solstice, a festival which was headlined by Deftones.

In addition to their set, frontman Chino Moreno played a short acoustic set inside the Thrihnukagigur volcano following an opening set from Icelandic singer-songwriter Snorri Helgason.

20 people got the privilege of witnessing the event having paid around £1300 to be there. To reach the location, attendees had to walk two-and-a-half miles and then take a six-minute elevator ride down the shaft of the volcano. The BBC reports that Moreno played a Morrissey song, Deftones’ ‘Change (In The House Of Flies)’ and a song from David Bowie’s last album, Blackstar. You can watch a BBC report about the gig here.
