Container, aka US-based Ren Schofield, runs a mean line in ferocious, psychedelic techno, whose single-minded intensity and raw edges suggest early Jeff Mills or Ancient Methods going supernova and burning everything around them to a crisp. His second LP for Editions Mego offshoot Spectrum Spools was one of last year’s underground gems – we described it as "a raw and sinewy exploration of the blurring boundaries between techno and noise" – and he’s just announced a new four-track EP entitled Treatment for Morphosis’ Morphine label. Due for release in March, it’s the most degraded-sounding of his techno releases to date, featuring four tracks of supremely trippy and abrasive club-not-club music. In advance for the release you can watch the video for EP track ‘Saturated’ above – prepare to be sucked into the vortex.
Container, as we’ve previously reported, is set to play in London at Corscia Studios on 20th April, as part of a mighty-looking line-up alongside Morphosis, NHK’Koyxen, Objekt and a just-announced John Heckle. It promises to be quite the night – full details here.
