Black Midi Announce Debut Album

black midi confirm full details of debut album, due on Rough Trade Records, as well as a live show in London tonight

black midi are set to release their debut album, Schlagenheim, via Rough Trade Records next month.

The album comes in the wake of a number of recent singles including ‘Talking Heads’ which is due out on Rough Trade this Friday (May 17) alongside ‘Crow’s Perch’.

The band recorded Schlagenheim with Speedy Wunderground producer Dan Carey, laying down eight of its nine tracks in just five days. All of the album’s track titles will be revealed on June 21, the day of the release.

"The process was one of refining and rebuilding tracks around the initial structures," says a press release accompanying the album’s announcement. "Five-hour jams would sometimes yield a riff that then became a few bars of a song."

Alongside the album’s announcement is news that the band will play live in Northeast London tonight at a secret location. To register your email to purchase a ticket for the show, head here.

You can pre-order Schlagenheim here, and see the album artwork, produced by visual artist David Rudnick, below.

Rough Trade will release Schlagenheim on June 21, 2019.
