Atonal festival has revealed the first bunch of names for this August’s event and, as ever, there’s a heady mix of world-first performances, installations and audiovisual events, with today’s announcement offering up some seriously exciting headliners to boot.
For starters, Outside The Dream Syndicate, the "epic shamanic trance suite" from Faust and Tony Conrad, gets a first live airing in 20 years. SUMS – the acclaimed collaboration between Mogwai’s Barry Burns and Raster-Noton artist Kangding Ray – also makes the bill alongside legendary Nine Inch Nails man Alessandro Cortini’s whose solo project Sonno tore us up at Rewire last year. On top of that there are live sets from Ugandan Methods (Regis & Ancient Methods), Chra and Ryo Murakami, as well as A/V sets from Mike Parker, Fis and Ena. Atonal takes place over August 19-23 at the mind-blowing abandoned power plant known as Kraftwerk in Berlin. Tickets are available from the Atonal website for €85.60.
